Salt Lake Band (Enungkwerrimanja) are a 10 piece band hailing from Umbakumba, Groote Eylandt.
Salt Lake formed 18 years ago, after gathering around telling stories to their young ones and turning those stories into music. The music they play today is to keep their traditions and culture alive.
The band are known for singing in English and in their Anindilyakwa language, a band connected by family and dreaming’s tied to the Warnindilyakwa way of song lines, totems and beginning of time.
Salt Lake hope to pass on the Anindilywakwa culture to the next generation and to all indigenous Australians.
